Biography/History

Anna Lea was the wife of the Philadelphian civil right's activist, mathematician, and publisher Henry Charles Lea. Anna Caroline Jaudon was born on October 24, 1824 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to William Latta Jaudon and Susan Gibson Lea. She married Henry Charles Lea, her first cousin, on May 27, 1850. Together they had four children; Francis Henry, Nina, Charles Matthew, and Arthur Henry. Anna Lea passed away on January 29, 1912 in Philadelphia.

Scope and Contents

This collections contains letters to Henry Charles Lea written by his wife Anna Lea. The letters are dated between July 1845 and March 1846.
