Biography/History

Franklin was a film producer and director who lived in England. He served in the Indian Army and began a career in the motion picture industry in 1928. Franklin Eastern Enterprises Limited was the name of his company in London. Franklin was a fellow of the British Royal Geographical Society and a fellow of the Zoological Society.

Scope and Contents

A typescript of a novel bound in black with stamped gold lettering on the cover containing a novel written by Peter Franklin. The novel is set in India relaying the story of Prince Bahadur of Kahanistan and Hathiraj, a bull elephant. Preceding the novel is a list of the characters and a list entitled "Chapter readings" consisting of a prelude, ten chapters, and a closing scene. Laid in the volume is a small pamphlet announcing a series of six documentary films on India entitled "India Old and New." The pamphlet provides a brief explanation of the film series, some information about Franklin, and a synopsis for each of the six films. W. Straker Printers and Stationers, London printed the pamphlet and bound the typescript.
