Jacqueline Fawcett (b. Mar 18, 1941) holds a BS in Nursing from Boston University, an AM in Parent-Child Nursing from New York University as well as a PhD in Nursing from New York University. For more than 30 years, Fawcett has taught undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students. She served as Chairman of the Department of Nursing and Member of the Board of Visitors at the University of Massachusetts. Fawcett is an internationally recognized authority on conceptual models of nursing and nursing theory development. Her ongoing programs of Roy Adaptation Model-based research focus on functional status in normal life transitions and serious illness, and women’s responses to cesarean birth.
