The Oral History Project was begun by the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges (NCBJ) at its 2004 Annual Meeting. The
purpose of the project was to record interviews in which past presidents of the NCBJ reminisced about the organization and
the role they played in it. The project later expanded to encompass oral histories of prominent bankruptcy judges. The collection
chiefly includes oral histories recorded with past presidents of the National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges. Accruals to
this project include prominent members of the NCBJ who may or may not be former presidents.

The National Conference of Bankruptcy Judges (NCBJ) was founded in 1926 to provide continuing legal education to bankruptcy
judges, lawyers, and other practitioners, and to advise and influence Congress in an effort to represent the interests of
bankruptcy judges with regards to pending bankruptcy legislation, and to promote greater uniformity and understanding of existing
bankruptcy law. The collection, 1926-2007, includes materials related to organizational activity as it relates to the field
of bankruptcy law, including administrative files, committee papers, meeting materials, legislative activity, publications,
and related material.
