The father of modern endodontics, an authority on root canal therapy, and a long time professor at the University of Pennsylvania,
Louis I. Grossman (1907-1988) was influential in the founding of both the Philadelphia Root Canal Study Club in 1939 and the
American Association of Endodontists in 1943. The collection includes correspondence and material documenting the formation
of both organizations.

Robert H. Nones (1864-1936) was professor of prosthetic dentistry, dental metallurgy, crown and bridge work, and clinical
dentistry at the Medico-Chirurgical College of Philadelphia and served as the dean of the Department of Dentistry at the college
from 1898 to 1906. His papers include lecture notes, his thesis, and a scrapbook documenting the Stomatological Club of Philadelphia.
