Rudolf Serkin (1903-1991) was a pianist who is widely regarded as one of the greatest Beethoven interpreters of the 20th century. He was the director of the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia from 1968 to 1976 and founded the Marlboro School of Music in Vermont. James H. Heineman was the director of the the Heineman Foundation from the mid 1960s through the 1980s and was a donor to the Marlboro School of Music and Festival. This collection contains correspondence, ephemera, and newspaper clippings. The correspondence is between Rudolf "Rudi" Serkin, Irene Serkin and James "Jimmy" H. Heineman and dates from 1948 to 1991.
