Martin (1912-2005) was a writer and social theorist from Shebbear, North Devon, England, best known for his friendship with some of the greatest thinkers of the day, among them George Bernard Shaw, RH Tawney and the American social philosopher Lewis Mumford. This collection contains correspondence to Ernest Walter Martin from Lewis Mumford as well as from others concerning Mumford, and manuscripts written by Martin on Mumford’s work.
