Biography/History

Samuel Austin (1816-1897) was born circa 1816, the son of Joseph and Rachel Austin. He was a teacher and historian at the Moses Brown School circa 1841.

Scope and Contents

This collection is composed of the single volume typed speech of Samuel Austin, entitled "Education and Some Educators Among Early Friends." The speech focuses on the history of "Pagan Education" and the transition to "Christian Education," as well as highlighting early Quaker education and educators.
