Physical description:
2 v. (224, 198 leaves) : paper, ill. ; volume 1: 170 x 117 (140 x 90) mm. bound to 176 x 125 mm. ; volume 2: 170 x 110 (144 x 90) mm. bound to 175 x 122 mm.
Work on physics in four parts, in two volumes. Volume 1 contains Part 1 on general physics, which has 14 ff. of illustrations of mathematical angles, pendulums, levers, and pumps at the end. Volume 2 contains Part 2 "Optica," Part 3 "Astronomia," and Part 4 "Acoustica."

Foliation: V.1: Paper, ii (contemporary paper) + 224 + i (contemporary paper); [i], 1-89, 100-157, [148-222]; contemporary foliation in ink, upper center, modern foliation in pencil, upper right recto; V.2: Paper, i (contemporary paper) + 198 + i (contemporary paper); [i, 1-197]; modern foliation in pencil, upper right recto. Folios 62-63 glued together.
Script: Written in a cursive script by a single hand.
Decoration: Illustrated title page in pen and ink (V.1, f. i recto), plus diagrams in Volume 1. A few doodles in Volume 2.
Binding: 18th or early 19th century leather.
Origin: Written in France, 1787-1788.
