Physical description:
1 item (23 leaves) : paper ; 9 x 13 cm.
First chapter (sarga) of the first book (bālakāṇḍa) of the Rāmāyaṇa, a Hindu epic attributed to the sage Vālmīki; Vālmīki appears in the text in conversation with the mythical sage Nārada who relates the story of King Rāma to him; Vālmīki is moved by the death of a song bird and puts the epic story into śloka verse, as a result.
Title from colophon (f. 23r).
Written in 6-8 lines per leaf.
23 leaves foliated 1-23, upper left and lower right verso.
Colophon: ity ārṣe śrīrāmāyaṇe ādikavye vālmīkīye bālakāṃde nāradavākye saṃkṣepo nāmapra[tha]maḥ sargaḥ // śrīsītārāmacaṃdrārpaṇam astū // (f. 22-23r).
