Text praising the importance of the month of Kārtika (October/November) and the various rites (vratas) and mantras that need to be performed; this month is especially auspicious for the Hindu deity Kṛṣṇa and text contains mythology related to this figure.

Colophon: iti śrīpadmapurāṇe kārtikamāhātmye kṛṇāsatyabhāmāsaṃvāde eko ratriṃ śodhyāyaḥ // śrīlakṣmī nṛsiṃhārpaṇamastu kṛṣṇārpaṇamastu // idaṃ pustakaṃ sapuropanāmasītārāmeṇa pūritaṃ paropakārārthaṃ // (f. 37r).
