Manuscript is used as a kind of manual or handbook for consultation by a priest or household member (especially women) wanting to perform the rites, ceremonies, observances (vratas), and worship (pūjā) associated with this rite fasting. Usually performed on Tuesdays at the break of dawn for a variety of personal benefits and is usually held during the month of Śrāvaṇa (July/August). Contains numerous prayers and mantras to be recited.
Title from colophon (f. 6r); alternate title Maṅgalavāravrata from incipit.
Written in 11-12 lines per leaf.
6 leaves foliated 1-6, upper left and lower right verso.
Colophon: iti śrīmīmāṃsakabhaṭṭanīlakaṃṭhātmajaśaṃkarabhaṭṭakṛtau maṃgalavrataṃ s[aṃ]pūrṇaṃ // dāḍekaropanmakabhāskarabhaṭṭena likhitaṃ // bhāskarasyedam pustakaṃ // (f. 6r).
Scribe is Bhāskarabhaṭṭa Dāḍekara (f. 6r).
Dated śaka 1704 (1782) (f. 6r).
Mistakes blacked out; some corrections and additions in margins; vertical margins marked with double red line.
