Summary:
Collection of ghazals (love poems) and rubāʻīyāt (quatrains). Sparse marginalia, sometimes enclosed by a compartment outside the text block border.
Provenance:
Formerly owned by Anwar al-Dawlah, 1170 A.H. (ownership stamp with date of 1756 or 1757, f. 1r) and Abū al-Faz̤l ibn Ghiyāth al-Dīn Manṣūr (inscription, f. 1r).
Formerly owned by Captain Robert Mignan (ms. 20) of the East India Company and Sir Thomas Phillipps (ms. 3920; pencil note on front flyleaf, remnants of label on remnants of spine).
Sold at auction at Sotheby's, 25 November 1968, lot 254, to Lawrence J. Schoenberg.

Layout: Written mostly in 2 columns of 14 lines alternating between horizontal and diagonal, a few pages with long lines instead; text block framed in ink.
Script: Written in nastaʻlīq and shikasta script in the hand of Muḥammad ibn Walad Qāsim ibn Mawlānā Muḥammad Riḍā (f. 351r).
Decoration: 3 illuminated headpieces (f. 1v, 18v, 339v); small illuminations in gold and red in the corners of text compartments throughout; text block framed by gilt filet and a blue ink border; leaf surfaces flecked with silver.
Binding: Contemporary (18th-century) morocco with gilt medallions and envelope flap; no spine, covers detached.
Origin: Written in India before 1756 or 1757 (date of 1170 A.H. in ownership stamp, f. 1r).
