Request from Storage

Penn Library borrowers, please use the 'Place Request' feature from the book or video's record in Franklin.

Books or Journal Volumes
Locate the book or journal in Franklin. Open the record and click on the Place Request tab at the top of the screen. Log in using your last name and your barcode (the last ten digits of your PENNCard). Select "Deliver from Storage or a Penn Library." The volume will be delivered to the library of your choice and you will receive an email notification of its arrival.
Articles of 50 pages or less
Check the PennText Article Finder or the E-Resource Title search, both located in the E-Resources section of the Libraries homepage, to be certain that electronic access to the article isn't available. Locate the journal record in Franklin. Open the record and click on the Place Request tab at the top of the screen. Log in using your last name and your barcode (the last ten digits of your PENNCard). Select "Get Article Copy from Storage." Storage staff will scan articles of 50 pages or less, place them online, and send you a link. This usually takes about one business day. (Paper copies of articles can be sent to the library of your choice if you prefer.) If the article is more than 50 pages long or you want to see the entire journal, use the book request form as described above.
Non-Penn Patrons
Patrons without borrowing privileges may still request materials from Storage. Use the Storage - Request Article Retrieval form or the Storage - Request Book/Recording/Video Retrieval form on the "Forms Request Library Services" web page, or fill out a paper request form at any Library circulation desk. Books and journal volumes will be delivered to the library of your choice for consultation. Paper copies of articles for you to keep will also be delivered to the library of your choice. Electronic delivery is not available to patrons without borrowing privileges.
