Goschenhoppen, one of the oldest continuously existing Pennsylvania German communities in America, is a geographic region in Montgomery County. The Goschenhoppen Historians deeds collection, 1720-1923, is primarily comprised of deeds, although there are also a few bonds, releases, wills, and other legal documents. The geographic region covered includes parts of Montgomery, Berks, and Philadelphia counties.

Biography/History

"Goschenhoppen is one of the oldest continuously existing Pennsylvania German communities in America. This geographic region occupies a small corner of southeastern Pennsylvania in Montgomery County. The Goschenhoppen Historians Inc., was founded in 1964 in order to preserve the folk culture of this area's earliest immigrant settlers, known as the Pennsylvania Dutch."

Scope and Contents

The vast majority of this collection is deeds, although there are also a few bonds, releases, wills, and other legal documents. Most documents are original, although there are a few photocopies. The geographic region covered includes parts of Montgomery, Berks, and Philadelphia counties.

The collection is arranged into groupings by area, within which items are in chronological order.
