Biography:
Brigitte Burris joined the Penn Libraries in 2008. She earned a MA in Liberal Arts, focusing in medieval studies, from the University of Pennsylvania, and a MS in Library and Information Science from Drexel University. She also holds two BAs from Penn State, where she concentrated in medieval studies and the history of art with a minor in German. Before coming to the Penn Libraries, she researched medieval culture and organized conferences for the Center for Medieval Studies at Penn State. Brigitte is proficient in German, Middle High German, Lower Palatinate and Pennsylvania German dialects, French, Latin, and Middle English. Her research interests are in the culture of the Germanic peoples in Late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages. Brigitte is responsible for collection development and outreach for Germanic Languages and Literatures as well as selection and coordination of outreach for Medieval Studies, in particular, interdisciplinary subjects, e-resources, and management of the general collections including the Medieval Studies Seminar Room.
