Biography:
Brian Vivier joined Penn Libraries in August 2011 as the Chinese Studies Librarian. Brian manages Penn's print and electronic collections related to Chinese studies, both in Chinese and in European languages. In addition to selecting materials, Brian is available for research consultations and provides library support to Chinese studies classes. Brian holds a B.A. from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a Ph.D. in Chinese history from Yale University and a library degree from Southern Connecticut State University. Before coming to Penn, he served in the East Asian collections at Yale University and the University of Michigan. His research focuses on the economic and social history of medieval China and Inner Asia. Brian is proficient in Modern and Classical Chinese and Modern Japanese.
