This volume is a scrapbook of various Philadelphia Societies. Materials from the following organizations are included: Western Soup Society, the Children's Aid Society, the Pennsylvania Society to Protect Children from Cruelty, Philadelphia Society for Organizing Charity, Whosoever Gospel Mission and Rescue Home, The Home Missionary Society of the City of Philadelphia, Woman's Sanitary League of Philadelphia, the Christian League of Philadelphia, The Volunteers of America, Negro Educational League, and the Octavia Hill Association.

This collection is comprised of the single volume scrapbook of photos, and illustrations of the following Quakers: William Penn, James Naylor, James Logan, Richard Reynolds, James Pemberton, Nicholas Waln, Lindley Murray, George Dillwyn, Jonathon Dymond, Moses Brown, Bernard Barton, Anna Braithwaite, Dan Wheeler, William Allen, Samuel Gurney, Josiah Forster, Mary Ann Schimmelpenninck, Elisha Tyson, John Bright, Stephen Grellet, Enoch Lewis, George Fox, and Hannah Lloyd Neall. Clippings include poetry, Christian ballads, the life of Thomas Elwood, Discipline of the Society of Friends, the life of Richard Reynolds, obituary for James Pemberton, the Vision of Joseph Hoag, Dr. John Dalton- the Atomic Theory, an article on Mrs. Opie, a biography of Moses Brown, a biography of Mary Ann Schimmelpenninck, and excerpts from memoirs of Joseph John Gurney.

This volume includes correspondence related to the 150th anniversary of John G. Whittier’s birth, discussion of publication of a volume of his poetry, information on the Whittier Anniversary committee, including a list of the committee members, as well as clippings of printed poems by J.G. Whittier and hymns. The majority of correspondence is addressed to Marshall Taylor, and it is likely that it is his scrapbook, though the owner of the volume is unclear.
