of the field, and with the fowls of heaven.' Khan Jubb-Yusuf is a few miles north of Capernaum. The Khan derives its name
from a tradition current among old Arab geographers that the pit into which Joseph was thrown was situated here. It is a desolate
region, and one riding from Capernaum to this place will be impressed with the truth of this third verse: 'The land shall
