this place was purchased for the emperor, and was a favorite place of abode with Aurelian. The view of Rome we have in the
above picture is modern. And one thing is to be remembered in looking at modern Rome--that while it is a splendidly built
city, it does not begin to compare with the magnificent Rome of the Cæsars St. Paul saw. So strong and massive was the Rome
of Nero that many parts of it have defied all the changes of time, and stand out as the most splendid structures to be found
in the modern city. One never tires of looking over Rome from the tops of her hills. There is infinite interest about the
