six miles wide and about fifteen miles long. There are only a few little boats found upon its waters to-day. In the time of
our Savior, however, there were upon it great fleets. When the forces of Titus, the Roman general, besieged the City of Tiberias,
large numbers of the people flocked into the boats; and at this time an engagement took place in which as many people perished
in the sea as on the land. According to Josephus, 6,500 thus perished. There are a great many fish in this sea, but they are
caught from the shore alone. The above picture was photographed from a point on the shore where the walls of Tiberias stand.
