Photograph is in a book with a description beneath ; printed description: "(Isaiah, ii:3.)--'And many people shall go and
say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His
ways, and we will walk in His paths; for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.' Looking
from the Mount of Beatitudes toward the east, we see beneath our feet Lake Galilee, the most beautiful body of water in the
world, and then rising gloomy and solemn above it and beyond it, the mountains and hills which make up the Gadarene country.
Mount Hermon to the north is in full view, and the whole horizon we take in from this point is filled with points connected
with the history of modern civilization. Here was uttered the sermon, which by common consent of the human race, is put down
as the wisest that ever fell from the lips of man. Here was the scene of the famous victory of Saladin over the Crusaders
on July 5th, 1187."
