Photographer's signature at lower right; attached description: "In front of the Mosque of Mohammed Ali are seen the Tombs
of the Caliphs, so called. Really, they are mosques over the tombs of some of the Mameluke Kings. They lie east of the city,
and vary in date through 200 years. The limestone is of different hues, and is sometimes embellished with red paint. The tombs
are now falling into decay."
Domed mosque with tombs in the foreground; mosques also faintly visible at the far right in the background
