Cette campagne de pierres grisâtres est parsemée d'oliviers frêles; par terre, une herbe courte et rare et les mêmes fleurs
toujours, anémones, iris, cyclamens. Un long chemin serpente en lacet depuis la station du chemin de fer de Jérusalem jusqu’à
la ville: devant nous, tout en haut, les grands murs crénelés de l’enceinte se dressent sombres et uniformément gris dans
toute leur longueur. ‘Dans l’angle du lacet supérieur, on voit des rochers qui forment le fond de la grande piscine inférieure;
