Notes: |
Photograph is in a book with a description beneath ; printed description: "(Luke, iv:28-29.)--'And all they in the synagogue,
when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, and rose up and thrust him out of the city and led him unto the brow
of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong.' Upon the brow of this hill, from which
it is supposed the people of Nazareth sought to cast our Savior down, the Greeks have built a little chapel, where the devout
and faithful of that communion retire to pray and meditate. This little chapel may be said to be the scene of the sad event
in the lives of the people of Nazareth, when they turned from their doors and their lives the greatest of their countrymen."
