Notes: |
Photograph is in a book with a description beneath ; printed description: "(Haggai, ii:7.)--'And I will shake all nations,
and the desire of all nations shall come: and I will fill this house with glory, saith the Lord of hosts.' The desire of all
nations as expressed in this verse is generally considered as referring to Christ. We give as an illustration of this prophecy
the harbor of Thessalonica, one of the cities in which St. Paul founded the Christian church. This was an ancient city of
Macedonia. It was first called Thessalonica after Thessalonica, the wife of Cassander. It is now a city of perhaps 75,000
people. No city on the coast of Asia Minor presents a more attractive and thrifty appearance from the ships in the harbor
than this. This is a very important trade point. As in the ages past, so today it continues to have a large number of Greeks
among its inhabitants." "Vol.2" and "K2" are printed beneath the text
